After a number of injuries, Barbara was advised to take up pilates. Appreciating the benefits of this form of exercise, she completed her training in essential and intermediate Stott Pilates mat work in 2012. She really enjoys developing her knowledge and has undertaken further training in rehabilitation pilates - regularly attending anatomy workshops on specific issues and the use of props for modifications.
Following her instructor qualification, Barbara introduced pilates classes to the local secondary school where she was a teacher, as well as teaching in local pilates studios. Barbara has just left school (as a teacher!) and is focusing on her passion for pilates with clients new to exercise, with experience or with specific rehab needs, including those with hip replacements and prosethics.
Barbara enjoys discovering new places, meeting new people and acquiring fresh skills. Pilates instruction is her third career. She finds working with people trying to regain fitness after injuries, illness and disability rewarding and inspiring and is committed to clients’ well being at the same time ensuring they are enjoying the class!
